If your body could talk, what would it say about you?
What was your first reaction to this question? Did it make you uncomfortable? Did you laugh out loud? Did you say OMG I’m glad it can’t because you wouldn’t want to know.
Most of us would be uncomfortable with this question if we are truthful with ourselves.
We don’t get it right all of the time and we wouldn’t always like what our body had to say.
Well it turns out that our bodies can talk and when we stop to listen, we will learn a lot about ourselves and how we can take control of our health and happiness.
One of the loudest ways our bodies speak is through food and eating.
And if you are nodding your head to this right now, that’s ok. You are among a good company because most of us, if not all of us can relate to the fact that we don’t treat our bodies with love and kindness ALL of the time.
So how does this show up for us in our lives?
It shows up in our energy levels. It shows up in our skin. It shows up in our dress size. It shows up in our hair. It shows up in our sleep patterns. It shows up in our stamina. It shows up in our wellness. It shows up in our recovery. It shows up in our diseases.
There is no escaping the fact that when we mistreat our bodies with food and other lifestyle habits, that it will show up in many different ways.
So what can we do about it.
Awareness firstly. Being aware and tuning in to our body and what it is telling us is your first Call To Action.
But if you’re not aware, you’re not ready to acknowledge.
Acknowledgment comes next. But if you won’t acknowledge the issue then you won’t be ready to take responsibility.
Taking responsibility comes next. But if you’re not ready to take responsibility, then you won’t be ready to take action.
Taking action comes next. And if you’re not ready to take action, then you’re not going to be able to change your present state.
Food and Eating can be the ‘language’ that our bodies use to express our emotion. It could be a positive emotion or a negative emotion that we don’t want to feel.
When we don’t want to feel something, we may use food to push down on those feelings.
Have you ever had the experience when you felt anxious and uptight about something and then found yourself snacking on foods that are crunchy?
Eating the crunchy food can help take away the tension and anxiety. Or perhaps the loud crunching of the food creates noise over the top of the thoughts and feelings that we don’t want to experience.
I’m guessing though that the crunchy food isn’t a carrot, celery sticks, apple or raw nuts and seeds. These are some of the healthier options that we could choose, but often when people are feeling anxious or upset, they will reach for the foods that intrinsically they know are bad choices.
Do you know that these are all habits. They are a coping mechanism that we use so that we don’t have to feel the feelings that we don’t want to feel.
Eating the food can be a way of blocking the noise and the chatter in our minds that brings us down.
But how do you feel after eating the food?
Did it solve the problem? Did the issue go away? Were you able to digest the matter along with the food?
I don’t think so.
Food doesn’t solve our problems unless we are using food for true nourishment.
And when our Daily Food Habits are used for the power of good, we cannot help but become Powerful ourselves.
When we become Powerful in our Daily Food Habits, suddenly our body is talking a different story.
And that story will be written all over our bodies for the world to see just how Powerful we really are.
It is our Daily Habits that reflect the outcomes we achieve. Do more of the things that are good for us and good things will happen.
Focus on the things that make your body feel good. Include lots of the things that make you thrive, shine brightly and sparkle with that unmistakable energy of someone who looks after their body like it is someone they really love.
