Have you ever had such a big task ahead of you it just felt too overwhelming to get started.

It just felt like such an insurmountable challenge.

Such an EPIC task you just didn’t know where to begin.

Every time you think about it, you get a massive big knot in your stomach and your throat starts to tighten.

And so you just freeze.

You don’t do anything.

And you stay exactly where you are.

The secret to making progress is just getting started.

Just taking the first step towards whatever your Big Scary Goal (“BSG”) is.

And when you feel stressed and overwhelmed by the enormity of your BSG, it can really help to work backwards from the outcome you want and then drill back to what you need to do to get there.

What is it that you want to achieve?

When do you want to achieve this by?

What are the milestones that you need to achieve your BSG?

What is the first milestone?

What are the steps and actions you need to take to achieve that first milestone?

How much time will each action step take?

How long will you need to do this to feel practiced, comfortable and be ready to move forward?

Just continue to break it down into bite sized pieces until you can’t break it down any more.

Because it’s so much easier to chew and swallow when you do!

And then you have your plan of action all laid out for you.

Write it all out so that you have a clear plan to work from.

This way, you can’t get distracted by all the noise that cuts in on us every day.

Just follow your plan and take one step at a time.

Take one action at a time.

Tick these off.

Highlight the progress that you’re making towards that goal.

Breathe.

Smile.

Do you feel more confident?

Of course you do.

Now begin.
